Ernest Nuamah apologises for Black Meteors Performance

In a statement, Ghanaian striker Ernest Nuamah expressed regret to Ghanaians for the Black Meteors’ dismal showing at the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition.

The team’s surprising first-round elimination prevented them from reaching their goal of qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The FC Nordsjaelland star expressed regret and admitted that the Black Meteors’ performance was not up to par.

He stated, “No excuses, but our performances as a group were below expectations. Personally, I could have done better to help the team. As a group, if we ever have the opportunity again, Ghana deserves better.”

Nuamah further reflected, “I made some wrong decisions, but I am grateful for this opportunity.”

His apology is in response to Ghanaians’ disappointment over the team’s early elimination from the tournament.

The failure of Black Meteors to qualify for the Olympics has provoked debates and requests for introspection within the football community.

Ibrahim Tanko’s team defeated Congo in their opening match thanks to a goal from Nuamah, but they then lost to Morocco 5-1, drew 1-1 with Guinea, and were eliminated.
