Afena-Gyan: AS Roma prodigy set for first Ghana appearance for Nigeria World Cup playoff clash

Ghanaian teen sensation Felix Afena-Gyan is set for his first Black Stars appearance after receiving an invite for the games against Nigeria in the World Cup playoff, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old AS Roma star has in the past failed to honour invites to the national team due to personal reasons, but has agreed to show up for the Nigeria game.

With Ghana bent on qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar, interim coach Otto Addo is assembling a strong squad to face the Super Eagles.

GHANSoccernet.com understands Afena-Gyan and Otto have been in contact, with the forward expected to play a role in the two-legged game.

Felix Afena-Gyan returned from injury over the weekend to feature for AS Roma in their victory over Atalanta.

The teenager is enjoying a breakthrough campaign in the Italian topflight league after making his senior debut late last year. He has since netted two goals in the serie A.

His inclusion to the Black Stars is seen as a huge boost for the team ahead of the games later this month.

Ghana will host Nigeria in the first-leg on Friday, March 25 before traveling to Abuja for the second leg on March 29.
